LITURGICAL MINISTERS

A. Altar Servers assist the priests in the celebration of the Eucharist, the Sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, and Marriage,

Masses of Christian Burial, and other liturgical and devotional exercises in the parishes.

i.     Training sessions are scheduled as needed. Once trained, servers are added to a rotating schedule. Children 4th grade and up are eligible to participate.

B. Extraordinary Ministers of Holy Communion assist the clergy in distribution of the Holy Eucharist.

i.     Training/orientation sessions are scheduled as needed. Ministers are scheduled to serve on a rotating basis according to Mass preferences.

ii.     The pastor selects Candidates for Extraordinary Ministers of the Eucharist. A candidate must be a practicing Catholic in good standing, a member of the parish, and confirmed in the faith. The candidate must complete appropriate training and formation.

C. Lectors assist the priests in proclaiming Holy Scripture readings during the Liturgy of the Word in the celebration of the Eucharist or Communion Service.

i.     They receive training and are then scheduled on a rotating basis according to Mass preferences

ii.     Lectors are selected as needed, following formation, training, and approval by the pastor. Adults and teens are eligible.

D. Greeters and Ushers enthusiastically and cordially welcome parishioners and visitors, answer general questions, distribute information, and take up the collections.
